Linux Systems and Applications Administrator

Introduction

To help us manage and maintain the growing, diverse and challenging computer, network and storage infrastructure, European Central Counterparty N.V. (EuroCCP) is looking to expand its IT Operations team with a smart, dynamic and all-round Linux Systems and Applications Administrator.

The EuroCCP IT infrastructure is setup in two data centre locations in the Netherlands and in two offices located in Amsterdam and London. All IT operational activities are performed from the Amsterdam World Trade Center office location.

Job Description

EuroCCP is a successful company of approximately 65 employees with an IT Operations team of 8 specialists. To be able to manage a wide range of hardware, business software and applications, we need our IT colleagues to have a flexible, energetic and enthusiastic attitude towards all IT related work. Eager to gain new knowledge and broaden his or her technical expertise and skills, especially in the area of IT- and business applications.

Although it is understood that each specialist has his or her own specific area(s) of expertise, we expect them to be willing to take on tasks and responsibilities that are outside their areas of expertise and comfort zone. It would be highly preferable if candidates for the function of Linux Systems and Applications Administrator are also experienced in:

      • Managing and maintaining SWIFT configurations
      • Storage technology
      • Infrastructure monitoring
Job Requirements

Maintaining and supporting 100+ Red Hat Linux and +/- 15 IBM AIX systems

  • Managing, maintaining and monitoring ESX systems, Red Hat Linux systems (Physical, Virtual on HP Intel VMware ESX) and IBM AIX UNIX systems (LPARs running on IBM Power platform)
  • Providing day to day support to users and the EuroCCP Business Support department
  • Interfacing with external suppliers in case of incidents, problems or changes to maintain and support the servers and applications
  • Defining and expanding operational procedures for system management and support, based on ITIL principles
  • Providing the EuroCCP business with information on uptimes, performance, incidents and planned changes

Install, configure, maintain and (technically) support Linux and UNIX system software and several business applications; for example not limited:

  • Operating Systems (Red Hat Enterprise, IBM AIX)
  • HMC (IBM AIX LPARs)
  • SWIFT

Work with other members of the EuroCCP IT Operations – team in several projects to expand and improve EuroCCP production, DR and QA environments

  • Add new functionality requested by customers and EuroCCP business
  • Improve security by centralizing logging and authentication
  • Periodic change of production / DR data centres (DR tests)
  • Expand and improve monitoring and automated processes to minimize risks and reduce manual interventions during normal operation and evening batches
  • Further implement centralized scheduling using Cronacle
  • Centralized management of Linux distributions and patch levels using Red Hat Satellite
  • Further implement centralized configuration management using SaltStack

Knowledge and Education
  • Solid Linux background and experience (including scripting)
  • Well experienced in the English language, both verbally and in writing
  • RHEL
  • AIX
  • VMware
  • SAN Storage management
  • well-developed scripting skills in shell
  • automated configuration management , preferably SaltStack
  • basic knowledge of DB administration [MySQL Cluster, Oracle, PostgreSQL]
  • knowledge of MQseries

Facility N.V. and the UK based European Central Counterparty Limited. The company is
